Siegwerk supports area Siegburg students as they release young salmon into local river

Germany

As part of its local Corporate Social Responsibility activities in Siegburg, Siegwerk supports the local Wasserlauf (water run) Foundation which introduces juvenile salmon into the Sieg river with the support of youngsters from area schools.

The salmon sponsorship program included children three area school classes. One group was from the Hans Alfred Keller located in Siegburg.

Each year small salmon are released into the local river as part of salmon conservation program.

This year 2,600 young fish were released into the Sieg river as part of the salmon sponsorship program. A tributary of Germany’s Rhine river, the Sieg was once a prime spawning area for Rhine salmon. Repopulation efforts are seeing positive signs, including natural reproduction of Salmon in the Sieg and its tributaries. This includes  the Siegburger Muehlengraben, a tributary that runs through the company’s site in Siegburg.
