Siegwerk brings practical experience and enthusiasm for sustainable packaging to Siegburg-area high school

Germany

On January 15, the first Circular Economy workshop with high school students took place at the Hennef-West Comprehensive School, near Siegburg. The 18 participants from ages 16 to 18, immersed themselves in the world of sustainable packaging together with Siegwerk experts Sarah Klein, Global Technology Manager CEC, and Ingmar Bohnert, Sales Manager Inkjet.

The initial focus was on discussing packaging and economic efficiency. The topics covered included the requirements that packaging must meet, the key characteristics, and local and climatic differences. Knowledge was shared in a practical manner using classic examples such as anti-fog solutions, twist closures, and various other types of packaging.

The program then moved on to sustainable packaging and current trends in the circular economy. The students had the opportunity to get involved in practical experiments with deinking and shrink films and to take a closer look at various packaging samples such as dog treats, coffee pouches, and paper trays.
