Germany

Siegwerk joined 14 other teams representing area police, fire and ambulance services for the Blue Light Cup charity soccer tournament in Hennef – a city near our Headquarter. The Siegwerk team members were comprised of colleagues from the companies fire brigade, works council and other areas of the business.

On the day, the weather was great and the sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst players was tremendous. The well attended event went smoothly with no injuries amongst the players. It was a great opportunity to make new friends and meet new colleagues from the local rescue forces in the region.

The Siegwerk team proved to be a surprise to many of the organizations there. The players participated in a quality manner and the made a great showing for our company. Siegwerk took fifth place overall with a giant 6 to 0 victory against “Wilde 13” team consisting of rescue forces of the Rhein-Sieg district

With Siegwerk’s generous donation of EUR 2,000 the charity event raised a total of EUR 9,000 which will go entirely to families who have suffered losses of deceased firefighters from St. Augustin, who died in June during a firefighting incident. In memory of the firefighters who lost their lives, as well as one of our Siegwerk colleagues, the participants held a minute of silence before the end of the tournament.

“Our team is hot for more tournaments with a good cause, maybe there will be a revenge next year,” said Tobias Blecher, Works Council Chairman and Group Works Council Chairman for Siegwerk. “The works council is incredibly proud of our team members and their willingness to play.”

The on which one got to know each other better and thought of the great help of our local rescue forces.
