Teamwork for a green ecosystem and a relaxing, educational place for children in the Büdingen Wildlife Park

Germany

The wildlife park Büdingen has a size of approximately 300 hectares (740 acres) and is located on the outskirts of the city. An association takes care of the maintenance of the grounds. Due to recent developments (Coronavirus and inflation), the park has become an important meeting place for residents. Kindergartens, school classes and many families of all nationalities visit the wildlife park (nearly 30,000 people per year in 2021).

The educational requirements in nature are a great priority. There are 17 stations where the children and young people learn all about: trees, animals in the wildlife park, life in dead wood and what lives in the river. Sports equipment invites them to play and romp around.

Without the help of volunteers, it would not be possible to open the wildlife park to visitors without an entrance fee.

For this reason, Siegwerk Büdingen has worked with the organizers of the park to allow several Siegwerkers to volunteer for different tasks (4 hours each) on a Friday afternoon. This is just one the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities organized by Siegwerk Büdingen to give to the community.

Team 1: Helped to protect the young trees

Team 2:  Cleaned up the stream, removing rubbish and repairing storm damage. New biotopes were created with the sticks and the wood to foster more natural growth

Team 3: Constructed a protective wall at the barefoot path.

This is just one of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that Siegwerk Büdingen organizes to help the community.
