Siegwerkers in Morganton “Give Cheese A Chance” while giving back to the community

United States

Two teams of Morganton Siegwerk employees and families participated in the Meeting Place Mission, Give Cheese A Chance annual fundraiser. The local Corporate Social Responsibility project saw one the Siegwerk teams take home the gold!

The Meeting Place Mission is a local non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter housing, long-term housing, and counseling resources to the homeless in our community.

Kenny Keathley, Head of Business Development, Narrow Web, CUSA; Mark Eller, Technician, Narrow Web, CUSA; Nick Hawkins, Technician, Narrow Web, CUSA and their families won over the attendees with their award-worthy grilled cheese sandwich named, perfectly, “The Winner.” Team Winner served over 400 samples to the public and their tastebuds marveled in awe. The creative sandwich was a French dip style grilled cheese with shaved London broil, Havarti and Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli with an Au Jus dipping sauce on the side.

The Give Cheese A Chance fundraiser is an annual event held by and for the Meeting Place Mission, where volunteers sign up to compete in a grilled cheese cookoff competition. The winner receives a big trophy and bragging rights. Attendees of the event sampled the grilled cheese sandwiches of 21 teams and then vote on their favorite creative grilled cheese sandwich.

The teams successfully volunteered their time, delicious recipes, and were honored to participate in raising money for The Meeting Place. Siegwerk supported our teams by providing the costs of the ingredients for the grilled cheese sandwiches.
