Siegburg library celebrates end of Summer Reading Club 2023 with more than 500 children and young people

Germany

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company is committed to many local charity projects, including the Summer Reading Club (SLC).

SLC 2023 was a great success for the Siegburg Public Library, with 553 participants. The increased proportion of boys, which was almost on a par with that of girls, was particularly pleasing. A total of 4,115 different books and other materials were borrowed.

The SLC is a reading promotion campaign organized each year by the Siegburg Public Library. The aim is to strengthen the reading motivation and reading skills of children and young people and to make reading fun.  Participants collect stamps for materials read or workshops attended, either alone or in teams. The stamps are then recorded in a logbook, which the children and young people also design creatively.

The big closing event took place at the local cinema. There, the participants who had read the most were honored by Siegburg Mayor Stefan Rosemann. In addition, some children and young people received special prizes for their particularly original logbooks.

After the awards ceremony, everyone was able to watch an exciting film and talk about their summer reading experiences.
