Support project for environmental education in Siegburg day-care centers

Germany

Siegwerk and the Nikolaus Foundation promote sustainable action even among the youngest children: Together with the City of Siegburg, environmental education projects are to be implemented in Siegburg daycare centers. A first workshop with educators has already taken place.

In this way the children can approach scientific topics in a playful way, for example through experiments with water. The focus is also on food. Here, the aim is to convey greater appreciation for our food through sensory training, home-grown vegetables, own food production or composting.

The reuse of raw materials and recyclable materials is an important topic on the project plan. The children will also learn how to avoid waste and about the role of packaging through experiments with paper and plastic.

"Supporting children is particularly important to Siegwerk and the Nikolaus Foundation. That is why this sustainable project with Siegburg daycare centers is a local part of the company's global Circular Economy strategy," says Dr. Nikole Peters, Manager Corporate Communications & CSR.

All parts of the joint environmental education project are designed for practical daily use in daycare centers. After the restrictions imposed because of the corona epidemic, the actions will continue, also with dedicated activities in the participating daycare centers.
