Siegwerk Buedingen combining employee safety with social responsibility
Germany
Siegwerk’s Buedingen, Germany site launched a project this year in cooperation with Wetterau District Disabled Services – both organizations with strong ties to their home region.
The Wetterau District Disabled Services agency operates four workshops for adults and young people with learning or other disabilities. Their primary purpose is to support and provide education and training opportunities for people, while helping them take part in the workforce.
It is important to the Disabled Services agency that the adults and young people working there can perform their regular work, and the only way this can occur is if they have ongoing orders. Unfortunately, they have seen a reduction in orders due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Siegwerk Buedingen ordered masks for all of its employees, and had the textile workshop - where 15 disabled adults and young people work - embroider them with the Siegwerk logo. In addition to supporting Disabled Services by utilizing the services of the textile workshop, it is our goal with the masks to minimize the risk of transmitting the Coronavirus, thereby fulfilling our responsibility to protect the health and well-being of our employees.
