Siegwerk will continue its multi-project approach with its Lighthouse Projects. The joint focus of our partnership approach continues to be on the mentoring initiative - YouthCan! with a focus on Circular Economy projects.
With our annual donation Siegwerk is supporting four projects in:
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Guatemala
- India
In all four countries, a relationship has been successfully established between Siegwerk’s local entity and SOS Children’s Villages. Both partners are closely connected to help vulnerable young people to successfully transition to the working world.
While the main focus is on mentoring, Siegwerk’s strategy of providing innovative solutions for a Circular Economy will play a big role in future work with SOS Children’s Villages. Preparing young people for changing environments and other challenges in life, sustainability awareness will play a central role in the training sessions. This also complements the SOS initiative "Climate Protection is Child Protection" perfectly.
Siegwerk Argentina is now in its second year of its YouthCan! partnership with SOS Children’s Villages
Last year SOS youths had an opportunity to visit the Siegwerk operations in Tortuguitas, a suburb of Buenos Aires. While at our offices, the SOS youths learned about the different business areas of the company. Learning more about the role of inks and coatings, the visitors experienced both professional and personal development through the mentorship of local Siegwerkers.
Virtual job shadowing and career guidance, under the watchful eye of Siegwerk volunteers, provided a good overview of working in an international company. Five short videos highlighting different professions in: Human Resources, Technology, Health and Safety, Sales and Finance helped explain our working environment and daily work routine across the company.
More mentoring and job shadowing will take place throughout the remainder of 2023.
Siegwerk Argentina invites teenagers from SOS Childrens Villages for site visit
Siegwerk Argentina hosted a group of teenagers from the regional SOS Childrens Village (Aldeas Infantiles) at Siegwerk Tortuguitas in Buenos Aires.
At the beginning of the day the group was welcomed with breakfast and an opening meeting explaining the upcoming activities. At the top of the days’ agenda was a safety briefing, covering basic personal safety information and the use of protective equipment. Afterwards the young visitors learned more about Siegwerk business in general, inks and varnishes, the solutions Siegwerk delivers to its customers, as well as the brand owners Siegwerk works with. “The kids were eager to learn about Siegwerk and its solutions and it was a rewarding day for everyone involved”, said Pablo Suriano, Account Manager Technology Flexible Packaging & TO, who led the presentation.
The site tour following the presentation was led by Rodolfo Fiz, Production Head SCM Operations and Pablo Suriano, Account Mgr Technology II. The visit ended after a joined lunch, where the kids received some presents to take home and lots of pictures were taken. Everyone was grateful for the opportunity to visit Siegwerk’s Tortuguitas site and learn more about Siegwerk.
