Siegwerk supports the Siegburg Project UFO through the Nikolaus Foundation-

Germany

In Siegwerk’s hometown of Siegburg, Germany, an interesting project called UFO is helping children and young adults - up to age 27 - learn about new digital technologies. No, this is not an unidentified flying object, rather Project UFO is the German acronym for Our Research Laboratory.

A cooperation between the Nikolaus Foundation, Siegburg City Library and Youth Welfare Office of the City of Siegburg the project takes place in the city’s youth center. Here youngsters have access to a workshop for various crafts such as: woodworking, metalworking, constructing and soldering. Participants also have the opportunity to use laser cutters and 3D printers to help them achieve their creative ideas.

"Supporting young people is particularly important to Siegwerk and the Nikolaus Foundation,”  said Nikole Peters, Manager Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). “That is why this sustainable project, with the city of Siegburg, is another important part of the company's local CSR strategy supporting our community."

Each year Siegwerk donates money to the help fund the foundation which, for example, encourages children and young people to learn about digital technologies, affording them the opportunity to implement their own small projects and provides them direction for future professional careers.
