In search of the ideal Siegwerker

But what exactly do these Siegwerkers have to be like? Ambitious, dynamic, successful? Or experienced executive personalities with the appropriate skills such as strong leadership, international background and the corresponding cultural adaptability? The answer is simple: a bit of all of these – and, depending on the task at hand, a little bit more of the one or other skill would suit perfectly.

Siegwerk is a professionally run, globally operating family company which has been in the ownership of the same family for six successive generations. Accordingly, our company’s business policy is long-term oriented, with the prime objective of remaining permanently autonomous and independent. In order to achieve that goal, the company management sets high targets each year. 4,000 staff put their undivided willpower to the task of achieving the objectives that have been set.

Siegwerk is also a company that values a high degree of transparency. We place great value on our internal communications. The intranet and the company’s print publications openly name names, facts and figures, as well as reporting on the personal side of the Siegwerkers, of course. The management team consists through and through of “hands on” leaders. You might suddenly find that two of the company’s board members join you at your table in the canteen and start a conversation with you. That is par for the course at Siegwerk.

And Siegwerk is an enterprise in which numbers and figures count. Controlling is a strategic function with early-warning character. Whoever achieves his/her goals enjoys greater personal freedom.

Staff wanted
Siegwerk is a highly dynamic company which is always on the lookout for new staff to take on new tasks.

We want:
  • School leavers
  • University graduates
  • Young professionals with initial job experience
  • Up-and-coming executives
  • Experienced executives who like
    getting things done

We offer:
  • Real challenges
  • Quick decision-making
  • Great scope for responsibility
  • Strong corporate culture
  • International environment

If a target that has been set is at risk, then everyone involved consults jointly on what needs to be done differently. This also means that Siegwerk values working as efficiently as possible. Modesty is a virtue in its own rights in a family-owned company, and at Siegwerk that is especially true. It also means that Siegwerk is only moving step by step from its position as a “hidden champion” into the wider public eye. Sound judgment is required here too.

Siegwerk has a great tradition that has a lot to do with the company headquarters in Siegburg. This is where one quarter of all Siegwerkers work, just a little less than 1,000 people.

Siegburg is in many respects just like Siegwerk: not too big and not too small; by no means a metropolitan city, but very quick and easy to get to, thanks to the ICE high-speed trains and the freeways from Frankfurt, Bonn and Cologne. Compared to many others of the larger mid-sized enterprises, this is a real advantage – because many of them are too far off the beaten track.

Siegwerkers live the motto Ink, Heart & Soul. They love their product, printing inks – rightly so because, after all, a world without Siegwerk inks would be a dull and gray place indeed. And they love the close cooperation with their colleagues and their customers. Together with them they are forever developing new individual printing ink solutions – for new packaging and new printing products. For a Siegwerker, a day without at least one good talk with a customer – be they internal or external customers – is no day at all.
